Recently I had the pleasure of touring the beautiful Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman in the Caribbean. I took on the tour my clients who are looking for the perfection destination venue for their South Asian Wedding in mind. This beautiful property is a mere 15 minute drive from Grand Cayman’s Owen Robert’s International Airport. I was immediately impressed by the beautiful landscaping and of course the service. Every staff member was certain to have a smile on their face (which is exactly what you want on your wedding day). One of the interesting things about The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is that it has multiple venues for you to choose from for your wedding events. It also has one of three Swiss la prairie spas in the Western hemisphere (the other two are in New York and in Los Angelas) for you to enjoy during your stay there. How many South Asian weddings (Indian, Pakistani, Bengali or Nepali) does The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman host each year?
The number of South Asian weddings that we host at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman fluctuates every year. On average, we host around 10 South Asian weddings a year ranging from two guests to 400 guests. We only host one wedding a day to ensure the couple has complete privacy at the resort.
Do you allow outside catering for weddings? If not, do you have South Asian chefs available?
At The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman we do not allow outside caterers. However, you will be delighted to know that our Culinary Team is very well diverse including many South Asian chefs. We also invite all couples to meet with the culinary team to design custom menus for each of their events. A menu tasting is also an incredible way to ensure we are exceeding the expectations of the couple and using the appropriate flavors/spices.
How far out in advance should a client book The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman for their wedding?
This is a wonderful question and depends on the couples guest count and the day of the week they desire. Intimate weddings are normally hosted on a Sunday – Friday and can be reserved six months to a year in advance. If this is a more significant wedding with over 200 guests, then we recommend reserving your venue a year or more in advance. Even though we may have the venues available for their special day, we also want to ensure we have enough guest rooms to accommodate their guests.
What comes standard with booking a wedding at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman?
A team of Ladies and Gentleman who will ensure that the couple and their guests have a truly memorable experience, that is certainly standard! When selecting The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman all couples will receive unparalleled service, five-star accommodations, a dedicated Events Manager to partner with their Wedding Planner or act as their Event Manager for all of the events including wedding coordination. The resort is complete with a Floristry department and our florists can work with the bride to bring their creative vision to life. We also have numerous Wedding Ceremony Packages that the couple can select from for their special day. If they decide they do not want a set package, then they can choose an a la carte option.
In addition to that, the resort offers a collection of unique experiences and amenities that are unparalleled in Grand Cayman. It has 6 restaurants on property, including Blue by Eric Ripert which is the only AAA 5 Diamond restaurant in the Caribbean and is an extension of Chef Ripert’s prestigious cuisine from New York. It has a golf course designed by Greg Norman, a hair salon, 2 swimming pools and a la prairie spa where brides and the entire party can relax in a luxurious wellness experience.
What was the most unique wedding entrance or exit that you’ve seen at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman?
We have witnessed wedding couples arrive by Helicopter and depart by a boat. There are many exciting ways to make an introduction or a grand exit at the resort for your special day.
How customizable are your packages?
We understand that this is a momentous day for the wedding couple and allow complete customization of all wedding packages.

Our Cayman Islands ballroom can accommodate up to 600 guests. It is the largest ballroom space on the island.
What is the maximum number of guests The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman can accommodate for an outdoor ceremony on SMB?
For an outdoor ceremony on Seven Mile Beach, it truly depends on the size of the wedding. We can host a private, intimate ceremony for two or accommodate up to 600 guests as well. Our resort’s central location on SMB provides a wide stretch of beach area where we can host large events as well.

We’ve already had a wonderful start of the year with Cayman Cookout, a yearly culinary festival hosted by Chef Eric Ripert and a roster of celebrity chefs to the Grand Cayman. We have Spring break and Easter fast approaching when our teams create unique and memorable experiences for our guests such as a Spring Garden Ballroom brunch, afternoon tea with the Easter bunny and other creative and festive events. We have special events for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving and the December holidays as well. We look forward to December for our Holiday Display, a yearly display crafted by our Pasty Team that just gets bigger and better every year. For 2017, they built a life-sized Gingerbread house!
