Lansdowne Resort Fusion Wedding
One of my absolute favorite weddings of 2018 was Sania and Mortaza’s Lansdowne Resort Fusion wedding. Both Afghan – Pakistani traditions were beautifully honored throughout this fusion wedding. This was my first Afghan – Pakistani Fusion wedding and since I’m a part of a Pakistani – Afghan fusion marriage my self I was super excited. I was even able to convince my Afghan half – Nadia to join me as the second shooter.

I pride myself on my next shoot being my best shoot and there’s been plenty of shoots between this gorgeous fusion wedding on August 18th, 2018 and my most recent work. The Ceremony
The ceremony took place at Lansdowne Resorts beautiful outdoor space overlooking the driving range and most importantly – acres of forest bordering the Potomac River. To say it was picturesque would be an understatement. You’ll notice that the beautiful trees flanking the ceremony space were in bloom with stunning pink flowers which magically matched the exact shade on Sania’s Wedding dress!
Laidback elegance was abound throughout the entire Lansdowne Resort Ballroom from gorgeous flower designs to a whole doughnut display! The evening continued with Traditional Afghan customs that include the couple’s mothers sharing Henna with their future son/daughter in-law as well as reading the Quran together. Afterwards it was time for a couple of choreographed dances, one from Mortaza’s Afghan-French family and then a surprise for Sania – Mortaza leading the couple’s closest friends on a Bollywood inspired number. Dancing continued into the night ending with the traditional going away of the bride and groom and just as the couple had done the whole day – they did it their way- exiting with sparklers into a golf cart.
