Continuing on with highlighting some of the best Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia area South Asian wedding vendors I want to introduce you to L’Ambiance Wedding Decor. Based out of Mclean, Virginia I had the pleasure of working with them on Archana and Swagat’s Nepali – Indian Hindu fusion wedding (here is another Nepali – Hindu fusion wedding from earlier this year) this past October at The BWI Marriott. I appreciated the, incredibly humble and detailed oriented work of Priti and her staff as they worked to make Archana and Swagat’s decor dreams come true. You’ll see photos from the Sangeet, Hindu Ceremony and Reception. One of my favorite below images is a photo of Archana and Swagat’s reaction to seeing their reception decor for the first time. Enjoy!
How did L’Ambiance Wedding Decor get started?
My background is in I.T. but I always had an eye for beautiful decor and a love for flowers. Although there was a lot to learn, my corporate background made for a smooth transition in many ways.
How long have you been in business?
14 years
What type of decor do you specialize in?
We specialize in wedding decorations particularly mandaps, reception stages, and flower arrangements.
I see on your website that you have different looks for ceremonies (Glam, Classic and Modern) as well as receptions (Vibrant, Metallic and Enchanted Garden). Can you put into words how you would describe them?
Glam: luxurious, over the top, and dramatic.
Classic: traditional, elegant, and romantic.
Modern: trendy, clean lines
Vibrant: uses deep or bright hues and colorful lighting effects.
Metallic: golds, silvers, and sparkle!
Enchanted Garden: ethereal, natural, and elegant. Flowers and greenery play a huge roll in this theme.
What are your favorite looks for Ceremony and Reception?
This changes weekly- I tend to get excited over a new concept I’m trying and it becomes my favorite- for now! 🙂
What is the minimum a client expect to pay when it comes to getting decor a beautifully set for a Ceremony with Reception?
Our weddings typically start at $7,000 for full service. We try our hardest to stay within our bride’s budget and design accordingly.
Tell me about your favorite client from this year, how did you work together to bring the couple’s dream to life?
We love all of our clients and we are on a constant quest for design adventure. It’s hard to choose a favorite but the most unique was a couple who wanted a combination of Harry Potter and Star Wars themes for their reception. The couple had already had their traditional ceremony in India so this was their opportunity to do something personal, unique, and super fun! It was a very different experience for us that ultimately stretched our design aesthetic! Our team worked very hard on the project felt like a temporary art installation! How far out in advance should a client book you?
Anywhere from 6-12 months prior to the wedding date.
What comes standard with a booking?
It varies based on what the couple is looking for but all consultations and design sessions are a given and a standard regardless of size of the wedding.
How customizable are your packages?
We don’t offer packages because we believe that every event should be unique to the client. The design process starts with acquaintance and understanding the clients vision. The multicultural experiences that our clients bring to table helps us weave the details for each event, whether it be creating elaborate florals (contemporary or traditional) or creating custom structures from ground up. Budgets of course play a huge role in the design process and we offer guidance though out the process so that our client can get the best bang for their buck.
What is one interesting fact about your business?
We do all of our own florals and coordinate with other vendors such as linen and chair rentals so our clients can have complete confidence that we will take care of their every need!
What’s planned for the future of L’Ambiance?
We would like to do more corporate and other celebrations like birthdays, anniversaries, etc. We are currently in the process of planning a fun travel themed sweet 16 party!
What makes your business unique?
We pride ourselves on offering something unique and custom for each client. I work very hard brainstorming and designing each event. Over the years I have learned so many ways to really stretch a budget to make it look more luxurious than the average wedding. I feel this really sets L’Ambiance apart from other companies. We have also started offering graphic design services such as table numbers and other printed elements and we can draw up mockup concepts for our clients to visualize a totally customized design before it is even implemented!
