I met up with Divya and Rick on a beautiful May day for an engagement session on the Georgetown waterfront in Washington DC.
This was particularly exciting for me, because Divya is a friend of mine I have known since my days at the University of Maryland in Baltimore County. She was doing her undergrad work there while I was going to the nursing school. Divya was always one of the kindest people there, and now, I am thrilled to be able to see how happy she is with her other half.
These two had actually known each other for some time before they officially even talked to each other. They both go to the same Gurdwara, or Sikh temple (Guru Nanak Foundation of America), and they had seen each other around for some time before they got up the nerve to talk to one another. Once they started talking, it wasn’t long before they started dating. Finally, Rick proposed to Divya on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial!
They brought Sahej, Rick’s beagle/corgie mix, who is a complete princess, according to Divya, to their engagement session. The three of them together were the most amazing family, and I was completely entertained by how excited Sahej could get within seconds. One moment, she’d be sitting quietly, and the next moment, she’d be gone!
While I loved so many pictures from this session of this beautiful family, one of my favorites was the one where I was able to play with the perspectives so that they seemed to be the same size as the buildings. They looked grand and beautiful together, exactly how everyone should feel ahead of their wedding.
Divya & Rick, thank you for asking me to do your engagement session. I loved getting to see the obvious joy that you share, and I can’t wait for the two of you to be married and to continue in your happiness together.
